Toddlers can only see the world from their point of view so trying to reason with them or get them to do things is not going to be an easy task. This is completely natural and nothing to worry about - they are working to gain their independence as they learn to do more things on their own. You will also find that toddlers are not able to share. So be prepared for a few tussles to occur if a toddler friend is over and they both want to play with the same toy. Distraction is the best method here. Try to find 2 very similar toys and bring these into the play and then quickly and quietly remove the offending toy out of reach and eyeline.
